Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are are lay people called upon to assist the priest and facilitate the distribution of Holy Communion to parishioners.
Before being commissioned as an EMHC, candidates complete training and formation. This program provides theological and spiritual formation, as well as training in practical and liturgical skills. EMHC are designated for service in their own parish or specified institution, and therefore are not authorized to exercise this ministry in other parishes or institutions.
EMHC are required to show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread.
If you're interested in becoming an EMHC, please contact the Church Office at 203-268-8695 to speak with Father and register for appropriate training.
The ministry of Reader (previously and sometimes referred to as Lector) is wonderful work, and is an extremely rewarding ministry. Readers are responsible for announcements at the start of Mass, the first and second readings during the Liturgy of the Word, and Prayers of the Faithful.
We provide a schedule in advance, but occasionally ask Readers to cover Masses when there is a need, especially on Feast Days, Holy Days, Sacraments, or when a reader is unable to serve.
If you're interested in becoming a Reader, please contact the Church Office at 203-268-8695 to speak with Father and register for appropriate training.

Our ushers faithfully perform their duties for our parishioners and guests during all Masses. They are on hand to greet and assist seating those attending Mass at Christ the King.
In addition to the customary task of passing out and gathering the collection offering baskets during Mass, they may also assist distributing bulletins or other information following Mass, and any tasks Father may need help with.
If you are interested in becoming an Usher, please contact the Parish Office.
